Agents could research almost anything, but at a real quote or purchase they hit forms, CAPTCHAs and payment barriers, and there was no trusted way to prove a person had said yes.”
“We built Moltbound in a few weeks, directing AI coding assistants, and spent as much effort on making it trustworthy as on making it work: a person's passkey approval checked on the server for every purchase, signed receipts in a tamper-evident log timestamped daily by an independent authority, automated tests on every change, a security review and a load test. Agents compare simulated quotes from fictional partners through MCP, A2A or OpenAPI, and the person approves with their passkey.”
Why, What, How & Next Steps
People are starting to ask AI assistants to shop for them. Much of today's web is not built for that: bot firewalls block automated shoppers, and a seller has no reliable way to know what the person actually agreed to. For regulated purchases like insurance, that proof matters most.
Moltbound separates the quote search (open to agents, fast, many partners) from the purchase (allowed only under a scoped mandate and with the person's own passkey). It is a consent and checkout layer for AI agents, designed to work alongside payment rails such as Google's AP2 and the card networks' agent programs.
Built on open standards: Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A) for agent access, OpenAPI for REST, and FIDO2/WebAuthn passkeys for human approval. Every approved purchase gets a signed Proof-of-Consent receipt, recorded in a tamper-evident log that an independent authority timestamps every day, so anyone can check it without trusting Moltbound.
The sandbox covers 20 US services, all with fictional partners, including a reference test endpoint we built to prove the real-partner connection works. Next: the first real test partners, then a licensed partner as producer of record.
