The Origin
Moltbound was founded by Amit Gupta as an open reference architecture to solve a critical coming crisis in artificial intelligence: how can agents buy goods and services for people without exposing consumers to financial fraud or runaway autonomous transactions?
Rather than giving bots direct access to credit cards or email accounts, Moltbound introduces a hardware-backed authorization protocol. Agents negotiate, gather quotes, and present options. Humans approve with a biometric passkey.
The Commercial Vision
Today, Moltbound operates as an active, public sandbox and reference architecture targeting the US consumer economy. We cover 20 essential product verticals, from auto and renters insurance to residential energy and broadband.
We are actively partnering with licensed US insurance agencies, aggregators, and enterprise utility brokers to wire production quoting engines into our agent checkout rail.
Core Principles
Every transaction requires an explicit, cryptographic sign-off with a FIDO2 passkey. No silent auto-renewals, no bot discretion.
Agents only receive the exact fields needed to generate quotes. They never see personal identifiers, bank account details, or government IDs.
Quotes are sorted strictly cheapest-first. Providers cannot buy preferential placement or pay to alter ranking order.
